This coming September, we are delighted to welcome Dr. Wassim to Taiwan for a comprehensive two-day course on the Pitts Treatment Protocol and Philosophy.

Dr. Wassim is an internationally recognized lecturer for the Pitts Master Course and has taught orthodontists around the world. In addition to his extensive teaching commitments, he maintains a busy private practice in Algeria. I had the privilege of attending his course in Singapore last year, where I was deeply impressed by both the quality of his teaching and his outstanding clinical results.

His approach, utilizing the Pitts self-ligating bracket system with a 0.021 × 0.021-inch slot, demonstrates exceptional efficiency and precise control of tooth movement. I believe participants will gain valuable insights into achieving shorter treatment times while consistently delivering beautiful, esthetic smiles.

On the second day, Dr. Olivia Chou (周宇馨) will share her clinical experience in managing a high-volume orthodontic practice with self-ligating brackets. Dr. Chou completed her orthodontic specialty training at the University of Minnesota and is a diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. She currently practices in Hsinchu, Taiwan, where she owns and operates two successful orthodontic clinics.

To conclude the course, I will present the principles of achieving excellence in orthodontic finishing—what defines a truly outstanding treatment result and the clinical strategies required to consistently achieve it. I will also discuss the importance of establishing an individualized treatment blueprint so that every patient’s orthodontic goals can be fulfilled with precision and predictability.

Intro to Pitts system- from flat smile to wow smile!
Since the development of straight wire system, our understanding of it has often been reduced to a sequence of wire changes—progressing through each archwire until the final one, waiting for the two-year mark to finish treatment. However, as our clinical experience grows and patient volume continues to increase, have you ever started to wonder: if we can complete cases more efficiently, achieve better esthetics, and create a more pronounced smile arc on a bra by patient?
